Yesterday, my little Elsie turned the big 3! I told her the night before that this was the last time that she would go to sleep as a 2 year-old. Tomorrow she was going to be a big girl that was 3 years old! Well, just before 8:30AM, I heard "Mommy, I big-ger!" Too adorable! She remembered.
The night before, I spent baking and decorating her cake. She insisted on Lightning McQueen of course! What a girl?!? She went to bed before the icing made it on the cake. This is the first look she got at it. I was teasing her that I thought she wanted flowers on it... but she kept telling me that she wanted Lightning McQueen. She was pretty excited to see that it was him on her cake.
I think she was a little excited for her party, because she didn't sleep one minute during her nap. The neighborhood came over for some pizza, cake, and playtime.
Here is the big gift from Mom and Dad. All the rest of the kids in the neighborhood have wagons. Elsie kept asking for one too. I have been pulling it aroud the house in circles with Elsie and Sam in it all morning long!
It was an absolutely beautiful weekend here. We spent Saturday with our old GR friends... of course I brought my camera, but I was missing the CF Card! Way to go, Shelly.
But in other news, we finally gave Sam some real solid food... as in, not just oatmeal! I know, I know, we really took our time on this one. But Chris really wanted to be here for it, and timing just never worked out until yesterday.
Here is the before. He was so excited to see it in front of him. His little arms were flying away. He always gets that way when he sees his cereal too.
He even dove into the little carrot container. I was trying to get the camera ready, and Dad was taking too long to give it to him... So, he thought he would just help himself.
And the after! He did really great with it. We were waiting for the little shiver when he got his first taste, but he never did it. With each new food we introduced to Elsie, she would give us this whole body shiver. It was just too cute. Sam just smiled away like he had eaten this stuff his entire life.
Then there is this little one...
She decided that she was going to wear her hat that she found in the closet with her crocks. What a cutie pie. She asked me if I wanted to go shopping with her. Of course, I couldn't pass that opportunity up! We "shopped" all around the house... grocery store for fruit, and then the ball store for of course a ball :) ... I especially love that she has her little crocks on the wrong feet!
Yesterday, Chris went fishing with all the men in the neighborhood...
And this is what he came home with... two lovely walleye. What a man!
But better news ... It has been absolutely BEAUTIFUL here yesterday and today! WOOHOO! The sun is shining bright, and it feels so good to be back outside. Elsie, Sam, and I spent the afternoon basking in the sunny front yard.
Here is my little Miss Sunshine herself.
She did some investigating and found a colony of ants. I told her that she better watch out... they might crawl on her and bite her. (As I gave her a tickle) Apparently, I made an impression on her because while I was lying on the grass she told me, "Watch out Mommy, they are going to eat you." I had to clarify that ants won't eat her; they only bite. She just gave me the confused look with the brow. I guess I can understand in her little head... how can ants bite me, but not eat me?
She also did a lot of running, jumping, and kicking the soccer ball. She is really good at it too, if I do say so myself. I was completely impressed that she could run and continuously kick the ball. Nice!
Mean while, there is this little dude...
He likes to eat grass.
And He likes to eat his socks too. I was also impressed with him; he didn't mind one bit that his little stinker toes touched the grass.
It may be a wet gray snowy day out there... but I got the most colorful package today!
I got my afghan today. A couple of months ago, I found THIS. I really wanted to try and make one myself with the help of my Mom, but come on... let's get real here. I have no time to add another project to my list! I think Chris would have kicked my butt, if I would have tried this one too. I got a good recommendation from another lady who had the same afghan made for herself. So, long story short... here it is! I am so excited. It really is beautiful, if you ask me. So cheery. I might need to get one for Elsie's room too ;) And it will go nicely with the three other afghans my Mom brought down for me from my Aunt Barb!
While I am on the note of cheery...
Isn't he just so stinkin' adorable? ... This is what I get to see every afternoon, when I get Sam after his early afternoon nap. I love his little sleepy yes and his rosy cheeks. Yes, he is still in his jammies too. In fact, it is now 6:00 pm, and he is still in is jammies. Somedays, you just need those kind of days.
My sister, nieces, and mom came to visit for a couple of days this past weekend...
Sam had a touch of "stranger anxiety" ... but we did manage to get a few shots with him not crying :)
Elsie had to get her shades one, once she saw Auntie Banana and Aubree had some on. Cute cute!
And here is the entire crew! Elsie had a blast, and she already misses them tons and tons.
Elsie even got to open up her birthday present from Gram DiDi and Bumpa. She got two more games for her computer, some stickers, magnets, tatoos, and a cute cute summer dress. She has already been playing the games non-stop. The Cars one is for sure a favorite already. The stickers are already in her sticker book; the magnets are on the fridge with her birthday card; she is sporting a couple of the tatoos and earings; and she was begging to wear the dress already... kind on the cold side for that one! She loved it all :)
Awe... April's fools day. Well, I was going to come up with some creative genius scheme to fool ya'll ... but the only thing I could come up with would be more of a joke on myself than anybody else! So, we shall keep it simple here.
I was organizing photos. A good thing to do on the first of the month. I found my little jammie girl in her lovely pink jams. Thought to myself... whatever happened to her monkey jammies? Started to shift though old pictures and found this other one with her monkey jammies...
The really funny thing is... the first one was taken March 25, 2008 and the second was March 25, 2009! HA! Kind of crazy how that happened.
So anyways... If anybody has seen the elusive missing monkey jammies, please let me know. Oh and this isn't a joke, the Monkey got out of the closet and really is missing.
