June 10 - June 16, 2013 | Week 24
Let the SUMMER begin!
I am sharing this week over at the My Mind's Eye Blog using their Collectable-Notable Collection, which has the perfect bright colors to document our first full week of Summer Vacation!
This week we started off with Chris planting the bush he got me for our anniversary. It is called Hummingbird Clethra. It is perfect for the shade and draws in hummingbirds when it flowers, which is perfect for our backyard. Tuesday, we made our way to the library. They finished their first goal of the summer reading program. Getting prizes is always a fun bonus. Elsie picked out a mood pencil, and Sam picked out a tattoo. They both received tickets for a free pretzel at Auntie Ann's. Wednesday, we watched our first Summer Movie Express for the season, which was Ice Age Continental Drift. Of course, we had swimming too! Thursday was an ice cream treat kind of day. Yum.
Friday, we had two sillies playing with Mamma Pooh and Baby Pooh. How can I resist taking a picture when I hear "Mom, take a picture of this!"? Then after I get them dressed, I hear "Picture of the day right here and the title will be Twins of Summer!" Guess they liked the idea of wearing the same colors. Saturday, it was a mission to save our trees. They are showing signs of stress, so we had a couple of arborists out to look at them. They suggested we fertilize our backyard in a grid with stakes. Chris started that journey for us. It actually took a few weekends to do it all.
We ended our week with a celebration for our Super Dad. I printed off a list of questions for the kids to fill in about their dad. You would think that would have been an easy thing for them to fill out, but not for Elsie. She really struggled with the "right" answers. She couldn't understand that there was no such thing has a "wrong" answer with these questions. Chris has them hanging up at his work for now, so when he takes them down, I can easily slide them into a page protector here.
